The Los Angeles Times recently reported on a theft of customer information from Silversage Advisors in Irvine, California, a money manager. In an article titled, “Small businesses at high risk for data breach,” the L.A. Times reported that thieves broke into a safe storing computer drives holding customer files and data.

After the break in, Davis Sands, the managing partner said:  It’s not a question of if you’re going to have identity theft.  It’s a question of when—and are you prepared to deal with it?” Therefore, to some extent, cybersecurity is no longer trying to stop all threats.  Rather, cybersecurity is trying to limit the damage of the threats and preparing for a breach.
